Chocolates are a great alternative to flowers on a date, even a first date. It is entirely up to you whether you give chocolates; they aren’t expected but they can make a great impression. It might not be a good idea to give chocolates if your date is planned for during the day in high summer, just in case the chocolates melt. Keep in mind that you or your date will have to carry the chocolates about, so don’t go over the top with the size of the box. Sharing the chocolates together might be romantic and help you find out what their favourites types are, plus be the topic of conversation for a while.
What type of chocolates do I give my date?
Don’t get your date a cheap box of chocolates, unless you know they’re their favourites; opt for a small box of good quality chocolates. You don’t want to go overboard and scare your date off. If it’s the first date and you don’t know their preferred type of chocolate, choose a simple box, either solid milk chocolate or even a slight mixture.
